BABES DOWN UNDER

I thought with Gemma returning to modelling we should take a look at some of the other amazing talent we have here in Australia in terms of Models. I don't know if it is something in the water but we have some of the most successful models right here. I wonder how many there are that aren't even discovered yet.

Abbey Lee Kershaw:

Born: 1987 | Height: 5'11 | Runway Debut: Fall 2006

Abbey got her break in 2004 when she won Girlfriend CoverGirl Model Search. She is one of the worlds most sort after models and also has a pet lizard

Alexandra Agoston-O'Connor:

Born: 1987 | Height: 5'11 | Runway debut: Fall 2005

This babe got her big break at the tender age of 14 when she was discovered in Paris after an agent chased her and her mother down.

Alice Burdea:

Born: 1988 | Height: 5'11 | Runway Debut: Spring 2007

This fiery red head won Australia's Next Top Model in 2007. She was named as one of the top ten new comers by models.com in 2008 as well as latest rising star by Style.com also in '08.

Bambi Northwood-Blyth

Born: 1991 | Height: 5'7 | Runway Debut: Spring 2010

This thick browed fox deer was featured as 'This Weeks Model' in W magazine as well as being in the Top 10 New comers by models.com. Bambi is relative short for a model, but this has not hindered her success. She has graced the covers of many magazines such as oyster, mental, harpers bazaar and more. Originally named Stephanie, Bambi got her unique alias as a nick name which stuck (it is also her middle name)

Codie Young

Born: 1992 | Height: 5'10 | Runway Debut: Fall 2011

Codie was discovered by Viviens Modelling Agency when she was on her way to the movies. She may have only been modelling for a short two years, however she has had tremendous success. During her debut (at 18) Young walked a total of 40 shows (now thats a lot of steps).

Elle McPherson:

Born: 1964 | Height: 6'0 | Debut Fall 1998

There's a lot you could say about Elle. She is one of the most successful models of all time and has a banging body. In 1986 McPherson had a feud with Heidi Klum over the title 'The Body' which Elle held since 1986. She also appeared nude in playboy and has 2 sons. she was named the highest payed model ever in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2001 (at the moment Gisele Bundchen has this title according to Forbes)

Gemma Ward

Born: 1987 | Height: 5'10 | Runway Debut: Spring 2004

Ward was the youngest model to have ever appeared in American Vogue at the age of 16 (2004). She has modelled for the best of the best. At the age of 17 it was rumoured that she was being paid $20,000 per day. She also bumped Kate Moss out of her job as the famous face of Calvin Klein's Obsession Night perfume. Sadly Gemma quit modelling in 2009 where she then persuade some roles in acting, but never fear, this baby doll faced angel is BACK and coming out of retirement this year.

Jessica Hart

Born: 1986 | Height: 5'9.5" | Runway Debut: Spring 2005

Jess has debuted in the annual Victoria Secret's show in 2012. She also has a sister who is a model (must be some good genes).

Julia Nobis

Born: 1992 | Height: 5'11 | Runway Debut: Fall 2010

Nobis was named a 'Rising Star' in i-D's in 2010. That fall she was also named 'London Top Model' as well as being 'Our Next Top Model' in Harpers Bazar.

Miranda Kerr

Born: 1983 | Height: 5'9 | Runway Debut: Fall 2005

Our very own Angel. She is effortlessly perfect. There is not one flaw on this Aussies  body. Not to mention she is married to Orlando Bloom, a Victoria Secret's Angel and has a beautiful baby boy. 

Montana Cox

Born: 1993 | Height: 5'11 | Runway Debut: Fall 2012

Probably our newest addition to successful models. Monty won Australia's Next Top Model in 2011 and has not looked back since. She has been doing big amazing things such as being on the cover of Vogue and countless runways.

Rachel Rutt

Born: 1992 | Height: 5'10 | Runway Debut: Spring 2009

Although she was born in Hong Kong we still classify her as one of our own. Rutt has a unique look thanks to her Singaporean and English background. She was scouted at 17, however decided to put modelling to complete high-school first. No beauty school drop out here.

Samantha Harris

Born: 1991 | Height: 5'10.5" | Runway Debut: Fall 2006

At age 5 she entered her first beauty pageant and by 11she was named 'Model to most succeed' by Dolly (looked like she was destined for greatness from the start). At 13 she entered the Girlfriend Model comp and was given a modelling contract from Chic Model Management. She is one of the only aboriginal models to ever grace the cover of Vogue

Well I hope its obvious by now, we are one beautiful country. There are a lot more top Australian Models out there but I thought I should cut my list a little down to the main names out at the moment.
